The group is focused on the investigation of the immunological mechanisms that play a determinant role in the pathogenesis of the different MS forms. We are searching for biomarkers that allow a better diagnosis and prognosis of the disease and that contribute to a personalized treatment selection for every MS patient. This laboratory is a reference center for the study of oligoclonal bands in MS. We are also working in the experimental models of the disease.
Main contributions to REEM are:
- To coordinate the “Immune response and immunotherapy” subprogram, which include search for immunological mechanism that play a role in MS.
- Analysis of the influence of gut microbiota in the autoimmune response in MS in collaboration with: A. Saiz, G. Izquierdo, O. Fernandez, B. Casanova, D. Otaegui, X Montalban, E. Urcelay, M. Lopez Botet, C. Guaza
- Study of the role of oligoclonal IgG bands to improve the new diagnostic criteria in MS in collaboration with: A. Saiz, G. Izquierdo, O. Fernandez, B. Casanova, D. Otaegui, X Montalban, E. Urcelay. M. Lopez Botet.
