The laboratory is focused on determining the mechanisms of demyelination, axonal damage and repair mediated by microglia as well as in developing strategies to promote neuroprotection and remyelination in experimental models of MS.

Our collaborative contribution to REEM is:

  1. To study new approaches in MS treatment based in probiotics administration investigating their mechanisms of action in the regulation of immune responses in experimental models of MS in collaboration with L Villar/ JC Alvarez-Cermeño, M Comabella/X Montalbán
  2. Analysis of the role of microglial heterogeneity in immune responses to CNS damage and in repair mechanisms in collaboration with P Villoslada and F de Castro.
